Meet the Birds!

Co-Founder, Builder
With over 25 years in the trades, I’ve always been someone who loves to make things work—and make them beautiful. As a kid, I was the one fixing broken toys and building forts from scrap wood. That creative curiosity led me to art school, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, then straight into the family business, apprenticing under my father as a carpenter.
By 2006, I was running the business myself, taking on everything from renovations to new builds. In 2008, as the economy took a turn, I joined NeighborWorks of Western Vermont as an on-site project manager. There, I led a rehab project in northwest Rutland, transforming seven properties that had become blights into homes the community could be proud of.
When that project wrapped up, I returned to independent work, continuing to build and remodel homes throughout Rutland County. Like many of us, the pandemic pushed me to explore new directions—one of which was opening a local bike shop to keep folks rolling through uncertain times. That spirit of innovation eventually brought me to The MINT, Rutland’s makerspace, where I dove back into hands-on creative work and supported others doing the same.
Today, I’m thrilled to be back in business with an incredible partner as Two Birds Design Build. We bring craftsmanship, creativity, and community focus to every project we take on. Whether we're building from the ground up or bringing new life to old spaces, we’re here to help make your vision real—thoughtfully and beautifully.

I grew up in Florida - a bit of an indoor kid - at a young age I valued human relationships, vibrant colors/textures, and things organized neatly. My first spark of interest in architecture came from watching Batman (Michael Keaton - ‘89), I was drawn to the dramatic, moody structures of Gotham. That fascination led me to study architecture in Philadelphia, where I began to engage with the urban landscape and culture.
During school and professionally, I worked in a variety of firms including design and commercial construction. My experiences included projects that ranged from residential, hospitality, public recreation, and construction management. It was fast-paced, hands-on work that deepened my appreciation for how people interact with built spaces.
I traveled to India in 2008, where I was profoundly moved by ancient architecture, spiritual spaces, and rural agricultural life. That experience sparked a shift and within 6 months, I moved to the Hudson Valley and became an organic farmer, blending my architectural background with a growing passion for land, systems, and sustainability.
In 2012, I relocated in Rutland, Vermont to launch an organic farm at the College of St. Joseph. While there, I led dining hall renovations, taught classes on food systems, and developed a bike share program - bringing together design, community, and education in new ways.
In 2021, I earned a Master’s degree in Leadership for Sustainability from the University of Vermont. That work deepened my understanding of self, community, and social justice. A year later, I became the Executive Director of The MINT Makerspace, where I brought together my passions for design, craft, leadership, and human connections.
Now, I’m thrilled to be co-founding Two Birds Design Build with my partner Morgan. Together, we create beautiful, functional spaces rooted in thoughtful design, skilled craftsmanship, and a deep respect for people and place.
